The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has released  The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems˜ 2013 , which updates and replaces The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems˜2009. The updated volume discusses the design, materials and installation techniques applicable to asphalt shingle, clay and concrete tile, metal shingle, slate, and wood shake and wood shingle roof systems used in steep-slope roofing applications.

The manual is composed of five sections: Asphalt Shingle Roof Systems, Clay and Concrete Roof Systems, Metal Shingle Roof Systems, Slate Roof Systems, and Wood Shake and Wood Shingle Roof Systems. Each section includes construction details and information about roof decks, underlayments, materials design and installation.

NRCA also has made available  The NRCA Roofing Manual CD˜ 2013, which complements  The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems˜2013  . The CD contains electronic copies of all four volumes of The NRCA Roofing Manual: The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems˜2013, The NRCA Roofing Manual: Metal Panel and SPF Roof System 2012, The NRCA Roofing Manual: Membrane Roof Systems  2011, and The NRCA Roofing Manual: Architectural Metal Flashing, Condensation Control and Reroofing˜2010, as well as numerous viewable construction details. Users can search the text of the manuals by keyword or phrase, print any portion of the text or graphics, and import the text into a word processing program.

The NRCA Roofing Manual: Steep-slope Roof Systems˜2013  is $125 for NRCA members and $195 for nonmembers, and  The NRCA Roofing Manual CD 2013  is $350 for members and $475 for non-members.
